Joaquim is a former Hockey Olympian, India Captain, and Coach having represented India at the Olympics, World Cup, Asian Games, and the World XI. He is a proud recipient of the Govt of India Arjuna Award Govt of Maharashtra Shiv Chhatrapati Award and the Gaurav Puraskar for his achievements in sports. He worked with Mahindras for over 20 years. He also served as a committee member of the Mumbai Hockey Association Ltd and was instrumental in the laying of the new artificial turf and Floodlights. He has been a member of the Willingdon Catholic Gym for the last 35 years and has served as its Joint Secretary-Sports in his last stint as a committee member. He has been a pioneer in the promotion and development of sports in the city having a presence as a sports advisor in many institutions.
